A recent study by the company ESW revealed that millennials prefer to buy online this year. Most of those surveyed said NO to buying products in conventional stores.
The company that led the investigation aims to help retailers expand e-commerce channels. The survey was answered by 16,000 people from 16 countries, including the United States. It was known that 27% of millennials will make more purchases online than in person.
It cannot be forgotten that while Covid-19 affected the world, online purchases skyrocketed for obvious reasons. However, after the most critical years of the disease, store purchases have resurfaced, but only slightly. Many have preferred to maintain the variant of purchase and payment through the Internet.
Millennials tied to the network of networks
One effect of the pandemic itself was that millennials tied themselves to the network of networks to work, study and entertain themselves. From then on, those who are now between the ages of 25 and 40 defined online spending as their preference.
73% of millennials surveyed said they plan to spend “the same or more” online this year. Only 15% of them said they would spend less in 2023.
“They are spending more online than in-store in various categories. These results indicate that brands must continue to evolve and optimize their e-commerce to appeal to this increasingly powerful demographic.” Thus commented Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, executive director of ESW North Americasit’s a statement.
Meanwhile, another study indicates that millennials are not the most solvent age group at the moment. The United States suffers from the effects of inflation and fears of a possible recession.
This other survey was run by OnePoll and revealed that almost 40% of young adults, millennials, still receive money from their parents. Thus, they can afford to pay their bills and monthly bills.
