The curve is that Andrew hooked up with a mother who was addicted to alcohol, which hurt him a lot. Now it seems that history is repeating itself. Andrew first came into contact with alcohol in high school. At the age of 17, he discovers cocaine and refuses to go to school. Because he also becomes addicted to online gambling, he is accumulating more and more debt, which means that he ends up on the street.
In the years that followed, things went up and down with Andrew. In one of his ‘better periods’ he meets Ineke. When their daughter is born, things seem to get better, but Andrew soon reverts to his old behavior. “At one point he got so angry that he even started throwing beer bottles on the ground”, Ineke opens a book.

In the meantime, Andrew drinks, snorts and gambles all their money through it and keeps Ineke under his control. “My limit has been reached”, Ineke indicates to the cameras of Addicted. “I’m finished, empty, I don’t have the energy anymore, I’m tired; I can’t anymore.”
An intervention is therefore desperately needed, although Andrew is initially foolish. “I can no longer take your lie. I can no longer take care of myself and you. I am your girlfriend, not your mother”, Ineke tells him in tears. “I know I’m hurting you a lot with this, but I’m also in a lot of pain.” And those words come to Andrew. He therefore decides to cooperate and to be admitted. And in the clinic Andrew is completely at home. “If I look at what I have already achieved in recent weeks, and I still have 2.5 weeks to go, I think I can still get a lot out of it and want to get it”, he tells him halfway through. looks up.

Three months after the intervention, Andrew is still clean. “I am so happy that I have regained control and am sober again,” he says at the end of the episode. Unfortunately, Andrew did not keep all agreements and fell back into gambling twice after the shootings. In a short update it becomes clear that Ineke now controls the finances and gives Andrew ‘pocket money’. For the time being, this new structure seems to be doing them good. “I am happy that I have a lot of support from my environment, with the people around me. So I hope for a bright future,” said Andrew.
