A couple of young Cubans residing in the United States traveled to visit the Island to see their family and managed to return to North American territory accompanied by their dog.
OK with a video shared by Internet user Dayana Viamontes, this dream came true after two years of waiting. Now, “Lenito” will be able to live with his owners in the US, something that moved the Cuban community on social networks.
“An immense dream fulfilled, after all the emotions that traveling to Cuba meant, we were also able to return with our baby,” the video description reads.
The recording shows several moments of the trip, from the puppy’s adorable reaction when seeing his owners after two years, to the moment he left the island’s airport bound for the United States.
According to the Internet user, they were waiting for two years to be able to return for their beloved pet. She also stated that it was a very long process, but it was totally worth it. Additionally, she thanked the veterinarian who guided them through these steps.
“Two years of wanting it, we were able to bring it ourselves. It was a process of many steps, but achievable, and absolutely worth it. Thanks to our veterinarian Carpeti, who guided us through the entire process,” he reads.
The Cuban indicated that the trip was made aboard an American Airlines plane, which was very kind to them and their dog. While the flight only lasted three hours, she stressed that everyone, including the pet, was fine.
Additionally, he indicated that they did not have any problems at the Miami International Airport, since they had the necessary papers to enter the country with their pet.
“With American Airlines it was very simple, they had many considerations and although it is a short trip, the three of us felt very good. Especially the baby, who had to deal with so many changes in a single day. At the Miami airport everything was simple (of course, we had all the documents in order, permits, etc.),” he wrote.
The young woman thanked her parents for having taken care of Lenito during these two years, and promised that this was a clear example that her entire family would be able to reunite again in the land of freedom.
“Thank you to my parents who took care of our Lenito so well, and I know that they miss each other now. “Lenito is the first example that we will all be together again,” he added.
Finally, the Cuban urged those interested in reuniting with a pet that remained on the Island to find out the requirements to be able to take it out of Cuba, since reuniting with their “dog babies” was a possible dream.
