The story of the song could have been very different.
The undying hit “Call me with you” is still remembered by millions of Russians by heart. But few people know that a very dramatic story of one person is connected with this song. For the first time the legendary composition was performed by the poetess Tatyana Snezhina, who also wrote the words. She wrote many touching lyrics, composed songs and often performed them in front of an audience. But popularity came to Snezhina after her death.
The poetess died at the age of 23 in a car accident. She was returning from Altai in a minibus with her boyfriend, producer Sergei Bugaev. On the way, they collided with a truck. As a result of the accident, all the passengers of the minibus died: Snezhina, her boyfriend, as well as their four friends.
The poet left behind a huge creative legacy. She has written over 200 songs which she has performed herself. After Snezhina’s death, her compositions entered the repertoire of the best stars of that time: Lada Dance, Mikhail Shufutinsky, Nikolai Trubach, Joseph Kobzon.
And the hit “Call me with you” thundered outside Russia. The song became a landmark for Alla Pugacheva: the prima donna was then on the verge of oblivion, but Snezhina’s unexpected mystical help came just in time. The poetess herself, alas, did not wait for her triumph.
