For more than 10 years, the artist was considered the main Santa Claus of the USSR, but subsequently lost this title. The screen star wished to have a replacement, which was the actor Roman Filippov. At first, he only occasionally filled in for the celebrity, but later she demanded that he and Khvyly perform alternately.
Filippov was met halfway, which Alexander Leopoldovich interpreted as public humiliation. The actor even stopped talking to a colleague, blaming him for what happened. Against the background of the experiences, Khvyli’s health deteriorated markedly, and in 1976 he died at the age of 71.
