VIVA – After the Med-7 Summit, Italy confirmed itself to support Greece in fighting against Turkey. After France, Turkey also had to accept the fact that it had to face Italy, which had previously supported it. However, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not at all afraid and again gave a stern statement.
In the news VIVA Military earlier, Italy, under the command of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, expressed its support for Greece. Conte thinks Turkey is making a one-sided claim, and it must be stopped.
Conte’s statement was in the spotlight. Because at the end of August 2020, the Italian Navy (Marina Militare) had participated in a joint training with the Turkish Navy (TDK) in the East Mediterranean Sea. However, Italy took a turn and instead chose to be against Turkey.
Erdogan knows that Greece will be supported by a number of European Union (EU) countries. The 66-year-old president has also heard that the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has met with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss further the regional conflict with Turkey.
Mitsotakis’ meeting with Macron also reportedly discussed the purchase of the main weaponry system equipment. To strengthen its combat fleet, Greece is said to be buying a number of Dassault Rafale fighter jets and frigate-type warships from France.
Erdogan has made a strong response again, but this time he has a unique way. In account Twitter Personally, Erdogan uploaded a video containing his statement when he was mayor of Istanbul. What Erdogan said at that time seemed appropriate to respond to pressure from Greece and its allies.
“There is (a dish) served on the table for the wolves. Do you want to eat us? We are too big, you will not succeed. You cannot eat us,” Erdogan said.
Meanwhile, Macron himself predicted that Turkey would later receive support from Russia. In his glasses, Macron saw a game played by Turkey and Russia that appeared on the Syrian and Libyan fronts. According to Macron, Erdogan used the history of the Ottoman Empire to realize his ambitions.
“Our Mediterranean today is the theater of a prolonged conflict, (like) in Syria and Libya. The hegemony of historical forces is trying to destabilize the whole region, and the roles of Russia and Turkey are of our concern,” Macron said.
