Yooyu Pharm, collaborated with UCLA University in the U.S. to treat multiple sclerosis

Yooyu Pharm announced on the 3rd that it will develop a treatment for multiple sclerosis through a joint research with the University of California, Los Angeles, UCLA in an industry-academic cooperation.

UCLA researchers have completed the development of candidates for the treatment of multiple sclerosis through laboratory testing, and Yuyu Pharmaceutical and UCLA will evaluate the efficacy and safety of the candidate.

YooYu Pharmaceutical has the exclusive right to hold intellectual property rights for the new drug substance for multiple sclerosis developed through this industry-academic cooperation research. Yuyu Pharm expects that if the candidate substance is successfully commercialized, it can be applied to patients with relapse remission type and primary advanced multiple sclerosis in the future.

This joint research was conducted by UCLA Technology Development Group, which leads the partnership with private companies to commercialize UCLA’s intellectual property management and various research.

The main researchers at UCLA who are conducting this research project are Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl and Professor Michael Jung.

“We have found a new approach to repairing brain damage caused by multiple sclerosis,” said Dr. Voscal, director of research at UCLA Multiple Sclerosis.
