Yolanda Díaz’s Proposal for Universal Inheritance does not Include Illegal Immigrants or Minors

“Yolanda Díaz ANNOUNCES that the Universal Inheritance of €20,000 for Youth may be given to Illegal Immigrants and MEN” (sic). The disinformation account El Puntual 24H (@Puntual24H) published that information in a tweet in whichIn addition, they attribute to Díaz the phrase “They also COUNT.” However, there is no record that the current second vice president of the Government, and candidate to preside over it for the Sumar coalition, has said that phrase. It is also not specified in the electoral program of its formation the eligibility of people who do not have Spanish citizenship to receive the proposed benefit.

Maldita.es has consulted Sumar’s press team about the eligibility criteria to receive the benefit in the event that the proposal materializes. The response has been that “as with any benefit, some legal document accrediting citizenship in Spain is required.”

Yolanda Díaz presented her universal inheritance proposal, but she has not referred to “illegal immigrants” or “MENAS”

On Saturday, July 1, in an interview in the worldDíaz explained that his electoral program would include the creation of a universal inheritance of 20,000 euros for “18-year-olds”, without mentioning at any time unaccompanied foreign minors or immigrants in an irregular situation.

In the following days he developed the idea in different interviews, electoral events y in this twitter thread. Again, no mention of unaccompanied foreign minors or immigrants in an irregular situation.

Sumar’s campaign spokesman, Ernest Urtasun, explained that the benefit could be used for business entrepreneurship or training, and that between the ages of 18 and 23, those who are eligible will receive administrative support to manage their use. Unaccompanied foreign minors, or “menas” for its acronym, to which the content that is disseminated refers, would not enter into these requirements since they are under 18 years of age.

However, there is no trace that Yolanda Díaz said that your proposal will be able to be immigrants in an irregular situation or to unaccompanied foreign minors.

In the electoral program that Sumar presented on July 6, available on their website, no reference to eligibility, or not, of young people of age to receive the proposed universal inheritance, but who do not have a regularized migratory situation in the country. In addition, the persons identified as unaccompanied foreign minors are, in effect, minors, which would therefore be ruled out.

El Puntual 24H is a recurring misinformation account

It is not the first disinformative tweet from The Punctual 24H. In fact, in Maldita.es have a compilation of more than 30 hoaxes and misinformation spread by such account.

Therefore, It is a hoax that Yolanda Díaz has said that her proposal for a universal inheritance benefit is intended for “illegal immigrants and minors”, there is no record that he has spoken in that sense. On the other hand, in the electoral program of his political formation he does not mention any eligibility criteria other than age and Sumar assures that “legal” citizenship in Spain will be required.
