During this period of confinement, Foot National gives the floor to supporters. Today, head north with the Racing N2 Lens Club account, to discuss with his manager the Sang et Or reserve, currently 7th in Group A of National 2.

A word on the first team to start: did you understand the ousting of Philippe Montanier?

With such objectives, I will say that yes even if over a long period it is incomprehensible but as everyone knows it has been several years that the club is no longer in the elite of French football but approaches the Ligue 1 (Amiens going up at the last second in 2016/2017, roadblocks last year, …). We cannot afford to waste time in these conditions so after reflection I understand that management does not want these climbs so close to be repeated again and they made it clear with this decision.

Franck Haise, in charge of the reserve team so far, has been appointed as successor. Is it a guarantee of seeing more young people go through the reserve as a first team?

More I don’t think but from the moment he knows young people much better than an outside person the chances are logically greater, it is enough for a player to prove himself as with any coach. This has already happened with Cheick Doucouré, for example, who had marked Philippe Montanier.

From what you have from Franck Haise’s management in team B, does he have the shoulders to make Lens climb in Ligue 1?

Franck Haise is currently passing his Professional Coaching Diploma, supported by Francis Gillot, whom I met with François Blin. He has been at the club for 3 seasons now and inevitably rubs shoulders with the pros when he is at La Gaillette, which allows him to already have knowledge of certain players. So for me, and we had the proof with its first 2 games and with its record in National 2 where each year the club plays the maintenance except this season where for once and for many years the club is quite well placed in championship, he is able to bring us up.

Alou Diarra, his assistant, also changed his dimension by officiating in the professional world for the first time. Do you see him as a future number 1?

For me, it is still too early to answer this question. Alou Diarra only embarks on the coaching profession but as we have the example with Didier Deschamps, we can very well succeed as players and coach and that is what I wish him.

It is therefore Yohan Démont who takes over from Franck Haise at the head of the reserve team. Is this the right choice?

Yohan Démont is a good choice for me with this surprise effect since he already knows the position of coach (U17 coach this season) and he already knows National 2 as an assistant with Eric Sikora. I don’t expect anything special apart from everyone else, that it will allow the reserve to last this season.

7 wins, 7 draws and 7 defeats and a 7th place in the ranking: how do you explain this assessment at the time of this improvised truce?

Contrary to what you might think, the National 2 championship is not that easy. Indeed, there are former clubs of the elite of French football like Bastia or Sedan as well as other reserves of club of Ligue 1 with Lille or Reims. In addition to that, the group is made up of very difficult teams to play, it comes to my mind Bobigny, made up of elderly elements and large builds unlike the Lens team, made up mainly of young players. Matches are never easy, you can never predict the score.

Lens B has stagnated in N2 for several seasons: should the accession to National be an objective?

As we all know, the main objective of the club is to go up to Ligue 1 and as the rules stipulate, there must be at least two divisions between a first team and its reserve therefore the rise in National is administratively impossible for the time being.

“This is when we saw the cohesion of the team”

What was the game that marked you the most this season?

There was a game that marked me negatively but we are going to stay in the positive so I will say the home derby against Losc last October. Lille led 2-1 until the 90th minute before Randy Mavinga equalized. That’s when we saw the cohesion of the team who came to celebrate this goal with the coach.

And the player?

For the player, I will say Harold Voyer who surprises me in every game with his solidity in central defense alongside Mael Haise.

The nugget of the training center that we do not yet know?

I went to watch a few U19 matches and one player marked me: Anis Hadj Moussa. He has signed a two-year contract with the club and is technically very comfortable on the field. His ease in eliminating players in the midfield is enormous.

The player you want to climb as a first team?

As I mentioned earlier, many certainly have a card to play, but the one who stands out is Harold Voyer, who notably went through PSG and was trained alongside Christopher N’Kunku and others. He then went through Poissy before arriving in Lens last summer. He’s kind of the dad of the group with his 22 years and I think he can prove himself in the first team.

How are you occupying your site / twitter page / fb page during this period without any real news?

I’m getting started with professional video editing software and I’m trying to reach out to some players to make a video outlining their best actions this season. That of Mael Haise is already online and that of Harold Voyer is in preparation.
