Xi Jinping and Putin meet tomorrow It seems that we support each other on the Ukraine-Taiwan issue

Meeting for the first time in 7 months at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit … The North Korean nuclear issue also pays attention

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin hold their first face-to-face summit in Uzbekistan on 15 (local time) in Uzbekistan.

According to the Russian Kremlin, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks taking advantage of the opportunity to participate side by side at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

This is the meeting after 7 months of meetings in Beijing on February 4, the day of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to Reuters and the TASS news agency, Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s foreign affairs adviser, said in a briefing on the 13th that “the two leaders will discuss the bilateral agenda and major regional and international issues”.

While the war in Ukraine and the Taiwan issue should be the main issues at the top, both sides should support the other side to keep the United States in check on both issues.

First of all, while China will apparently not withdraw its neutrality policy, it is expected to effectively strengthen Russia’s stance on war.

China clearly understands why Russia was forced to carry out a ‘special military operation’ (Russian expression for the invasion of Ukraine),” Ushakov said.

Recalling China’s political support for Russia, while carefully drawing a line on criticism and sanctions against Russia after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, revealing the view that the root cause of the war lies in NATO’s eastward movement.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Maoning said in a regular briefing on the 13th: “Our position on the Ukrainian crisis is consistent. We urge you to find a way as quickly as possible.”

As a result, Russia should clearly support China in the Taiwan issue, which has attracted more attention as gunpowder in the US-China conflict following a visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last month.

Meanwhile, Russia has firmly supported the ‘one China’ principle and stressed its unity with China, criticizing Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as a provocation.

Western experts predict that China’s growing superpower and resource-power Russia will strengthen “unlimited cooperation” through this summit.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, China has benefited from purchasing energy, such as oil, natural gas and coal, from Russia, subject to Western sanctions, at low prices.

From the Russian point of view, it is providing a respite to escape the economic isolation imposed by Western sanctions, so the winning economic cooperation between China and Russia is expanding.

It seems likely that China-Russia development cooperation in the Far East, which was actively discussed at the Eastern Economic Forum recently held in Russia, was also included on the agenda.

Furthermore, the leaders of China and Russia should discuss how to respond as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to North Korea, which is demonstrating its willingness to possess nuclear weapons even more strongly by implementing the principle of use of nuclear weapons while fiddling with the paper for the seventh nuclear test.
