Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will officially release tomorrow, but you can already expect a nice extra treat once the game is over if you have the Expansion Pass. An interview with three members of Monolith Soft indeed reveals to us that we can expect a big DLC as rich as that of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The Golden DLC
As for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has its expansion pass sold at €29.99 which will offer different content throughout the year from the day of release:
- Items and new colors for outfits on July 29 at launch
- Arena Challenges
- new outfits
- A new scenario
We had no information on this additional scenario but thanks to Nintendo America who published different parts from an interview published over three days with Tetsuya Takahashi (Senior Director and Creative Director at Monolith Soft)Koh Kojima (producer and game director for Monolith Soft) et Genki Yokota (producer and director on the Nintendo side), we learn that this DLC will be as massive as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 : Torna The Golden Country.
A content that we can rather consider a stand-alone in view of what it offered as an experience. Monolith Soft had also largely succeeded in the exercise by offering us a very addictive prequel to the second opus in the series. We are therefore delighted to learn that that of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be of the same caliber:
“We will add a new story at the end of the expansion pass, and we expect to make its volume as big as Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country. We hope that those who enjoyed this content, as well as newcomers, will pick it up. It will be quite a high volume of content that will not let you down…”
We can expect to a very enticing plot since the expansion pass illustration shows us the red swords of the three heroes of each opus. A shock alliance in sight?
Xenoblade Chronicles 4 or not?
We also learn through this interview that the series will not end after Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Although the studio considers this opus as a high point for the series, it is not ready to stop there:
Finally, I would like to ask Yokota-san a question. You mentioned that this title is a highlight of the series, but am I right to assume that the Xenoblade Chronicles series will continue?
Yokota: Yes, it will still continue! I want it to last as long as possible!
Until you get to all that, you have plenty of time to enjoy the latest JRPG in the franchise that will keep you busy for quite some time. We have also revealed our estimates of the game’s lifespan if you are interested. If you are not convinced by the adventure, there is always our dithyrambic test. We hope that Nintendo France will soon offer the interview translated in full since it is full of details on the development of the game. We learn for example that Mio and Noah’s flutes were specially made by an artisan to be played on the soundtrack. If you don’t have a problem with English, it’s available now.
