Xbox Players of Starfield Can Now Enjoy 60fps Gameplay with New Update

New Update Lets Xbox Players Run Starfield at 60fps

May 15th Update Introduces 60fps Option

Great news for Starfield players on Xbox! Bethesda has announced that an update, set to release on May 15th, will remove the game’s 30-frames-per-second (fps) cap for Xbox Series X players. This means that Xbox Series X users will now be able to enjoy the game at a smooth 60 frames per second.

Display Customization Settings and Performance Options

Alongside the introduction of the 60fps option, the update will also include several new display customization settings. Players will have the choice to prioritize visuals to maintain the highest resolution, detailed special effects, lighting, and crowds. Alternatively, they can opt for frame rate performance, which will lower internal resolution and detail while still delivering smooth gameplay at higher frame rates. Bethesda recommends selecting the performance mode when running the game at 60fps or above.

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Frame Rate Modes

Bethesda recommends a variable refresh rate (VRR) display running at 120Hz for optimal performance. However, it’s important to note that players can enjoy higher frame rates without owning a VRR display. The update will offer frame rate mode options of 30, 40, 60, or an uncapped frame rate. Players without a VRR display may experience occasional screen-tearing and have fewer display customization options.

Exciting Additions and Future Plans

The May 15th update brings more than just improved frame rates. Players can expect additional features such as more detailed surface maps for easier exploration, new ship customization tools, and improved gameplay options, such as accessing ship cargo from the player inventory menu.

Looking ahead, Bethesda has plans for a major expansion called Shattered Space, a new land vehicle, and official mod support. More information about these future updates is expected during the Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 9th.
