Xavier Bettel traveling to New York for the 76th United Nations General Assembly

From September 22 to 24, 2021, the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, will travel to New York to participate in the 76th United Nations General Assembly, during which he will deliver the national address for Luxembourg.

This is the first time since the COVID-19 epidemic that leaders from around the world have visited the United Nations. Due to the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the high-level week will be held partly in person and partly in virtual mode.

Xavier Bettel will also speak at the United Nations virtual summit on food systems, and participate in the virtual summit “White House Global COVID-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Building Back Better”, organized by President Biden.

The Prime Minister will also take the opportunity of this visit to have a series of bilateral meetings with Heads of State and Government, as well as with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

In addition, a meeting with diplomats and staff from the Maison du Luxembourg representing Luxembourg to the United Nations in New York is also on the program.
