Wow! NATO Deploys 30 Russian Front War Fighter Jets

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Western defense alliance, NATO, said it had sent at least 30 fighter jets to conduct patrols in several member states bordering Russia. The move comes as relations between the pact and Moscow are heating up because of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

In a statement, NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, the alliance had deployed warplanes to patrol several countries. Such as Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, to Bulgaria.

“Spanish jets guarded Lithuanian airspace and French reconnaissance planes scanned the sky while US bombers trained with allied air forces,” he was quoted as saying. CNBC InternationalFriday (10/6/2022).

“To prevent potential aggression against allies, NATO is deploying an unprecedented mix of fighter jets, reconnaissance and support aircraft,” he added.

The patrols were held at a time when several NATO countries that share borders with Russia are concerned that a Russian attack on Ukraine might extend to its territory. Moreover, Russia is insisting that Kyiv not follow the defense pact.

Meanwhile, several NATO members have also provided weapons assistance for Ukraine, which is currently under Russian attack. The weapons range from rocket launchers to fleets of combat vehicles.

Russia itself responds to this NATO maneuver coldly. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that his side will strike new targets if the West keeps supplying long-range missiles to Ukraine.

In addition, Putin also said the shipment of new weapons to Kyiv was aimed at “prolonging the conflict”.

“If Kyiv is supplied with long-range missiles, we will draw the right conclusions and use our weapons… to strike targets that we have never hit before,” Putin was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies, without specifying which targets he was aiming for.

Putin declared an attack on Ukraine under the pretext of fighting nationalists who have committed genocide and discrimination against the Russian-speaking community. He himself avoided the word “invasion” and used the term “military operation”.

However, it is only the cities of Mariupol, Kherson, and several other eastern regions of Ukraine that are reported to be actually controlled by the Kremlin. Russia itself had approached the territory of the capital city of Kyiv, but suddenly decided to withdraw from the city.

This war has also caused thousands of civilian casualties. In the latest United Nations data, there have been 4,266 civilian deaths and 5,178 injuries in Ukraine since Russia attacked.
