World’s Largest Diamond Found in Botswana Again, About the Size of a Man’s Palm

Suara.com – A giant diamond has been found in Bostwana and claimed to be the third largest precious stone in the world that was successfully excavated in the country.

“This is history, for us and Botswana too,” said Lucara managing director Naseem Lahri.

Lahri claims that the diamond currently occupies the third position among biggest diamond in the world.

“The stone is a clavage gem of varying quality with a significant domain of high-quality white gem material,” Lucara explained in a press release quoted by CNN.

This latest find beats the 1,098 carat gem that Botswana diamond company Debswana managed to excavate on June 1.

The latest findings also solidify Botswana as the country with the largest number of large diamonds in the world.

The diamond is then split open and one of the parts is now attached to decorate the crown of the Queen of England.

President Mokgweetsi Masisi welcomed what he called a “ridiculous moment” and the increasing rate of diamond discoveries in his country.

Masisi also promised to make his country one of the countries in southern Africa that has a long-term legacy.
