World Health Organization: Amputations Without Anesthesia in Gaza Strip

The World Health Organization announced that some of the wounded in the Gaza Strip are now undergoing amputations without anesthesia due to the lack of medicines and the difficulty of reaching hospitals.

This was stated by the organization’s spokesman, Christian Lindmeier, in a press conference in Geneva. He added: “The wounded in Gaza are subjected to amputations without anesthesia. I do not know the percentage. It could be 10% of the amputations, 20%, or even if this happened once. “It is unacceptable.”

Lindemeyer explained during his briefing that there is a shortage of anesthesia and other medications in Gaza, and hospitals are overcrowded, making it difficult for thousands of wounded to obtain medical care.

The International Committee of the Red Cross reported yesterday that thousands of seriously wounded civilians in the Gaza Strip could no longer reach hospitals, and that violence against medical facilities in the Strip would lead to unacceptable loss of life.

The war in Gaza is entering its second month since the start of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” as the Israeli army continues to bomb the Strip in light of international fears of the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 10,022 Palestinians, including 4,104 children, had been killed since the start of the war in Gaza, while on the Israeli side, 1,400 people were killed, including hundreds of soldiers, and more than 240 were taken hostage.
