World champion Argentina is still confident in the World Cup qualification and celebrated its 4th victory in its 4th game thanks to double goalscorer Lionel Messi. There was a 2-0 win against Peru. Messi played through after being missing from his club Inter Miami.
Brazil, on the other hand, remained unsuccessful in their second game in a row and, in addition to their first defeat, also had to cope with an injury to Neymar. Shortly after conceding the first goal, the superstar injured his left knee in the 2-0 defeat against Uruguay before halftime, according to media reports.
Neymar is on crutches
When he was driven off the pitch, the 31-year-old hid his face in his hands and later left the stadium in Montevideo on crutches. There was initially no diagnosis for the professional who plays for Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Brazil had only recently played 1-1 against Venezuela, and Neymar had to put up with significant criticism for his performance.
In the table, Uruguay moved past them into second place. Brazil and Venezuela – after a 3-0 win against Chile with also 7 points – follow in third and fourth place. Argentina is still at the top.
