Yuna Nagaoka (18) and Sumitomo Moriguchi (21) (Kinoshita Academy), also known as “Yunasumi”, announced the formation of a pair in May of this year after a trial in April, and ran through their first international stage.

–What do you think about the loop jump?
NagaokaMy body moved to the left and before I knew it, the loop had opened. In practice, I’ve been getting better lately, and I haven’t had many failures on triple loops. Even if I made a mistake, I would always tighten it properly and then get off with one foot and then fall, so this was a rare mistake for me.
–The audience continued to applaud. How did you feel?
MoriguchiI agree. I remembered last year’s All-Japan and for a moment I thought it was an All-Japan, but then I felt like, “Oh, I’m at the NHK Trophy.” I was so excited by the surprise that today had come so quickly and the surprise that we were standing on this stage.
NagaokaI was the same, and I was very happy to see so many people in attendance, and the cheering and applause was so loud.
――What kind of talk did you have before acting?
MoriguchiWe both knew that we would be nervous, so we were talking about trying our best to overcome this nervousness. I’m sure we’ll still be nervous, so I want to be a couple that can overcome that, so that’s what we talked about.
