During this holiday season, the Premier League never stops. After the beautiful day of Boxing Day, the 19th day of the Premier League ended this Friday evening at Molineux Stadium with a meeting between Wolverhampton and Manchester City. Eighth before the game, the Wolves could be in the top 5 if they won. Opposite, the Citizens, third at one point from Leicester, could move to second place if they came away with three points. But watch out for the Nuno Espírito Santo team, who won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on October 6. The long shot from Neves, however, did not worry the Chilean goalkeeper (45th + 2) and the score was 1-0 in favor of Manchester City at the break. To strengthen his team in the second half, Pep Guardiola launched the young Garcia in place of Mahrez (46th). And if Jota quickly created danger on the opposing goal (48th), the Citizens made the perfect move by making the break. Found in depth by De Bruyne, Sterling came to challenge Patricio and placed a stung ball to score a double (50th, 0-2). But the match was far from over. Quickly, Jimenez responded and the shot from the Mexican brushed against the skylight of Bravo (53 ‘). But on the next action, the City goalkeeper had to bow to a powerful shot close to the ground by Traoré (55th, 1-2). With this Spanish goal, the audience was giving back their voice.
Inevitably re-boosted, the Wolves no longer let go of the Manchester City camp which suffered more and more at ten against eleven. Sterling was trying to snatch a free kick in overtime but found the crossbar … The Wolves won against the Citizens, who missed second. Wolverhampton, for its part, was fifth.
