Wlazny finished second in the presidential elections in Vienna

Dominik Wlazny finished second in the federal presidential elections in Vienna, ahead of FPÖ candidate Walter Rosenkranz. Thanks to the absentee ballots counted on Monday, the leader of the Beer Party overtook the FPÖ Ombudsman, who was ahead of him in the polls on Sunday. On the other side of Austria, Wlazny managed to overtake lawyer Tassilo Wallentin with the mail-order vote and to place third – he also managed this place in Tyrol and Vorarlberg.

As in Vienna and nationally, the postal voters in Tyrol also helped Wlazny improve and took him to third place there – in the “Holy Land” he was still behind Wallentin in the polls. In Vorarlberg, the doctor and the musician had already obtained third place in the polls and this remained the same with the absentee vote.

The hometown of Wlazny, Vienna, is the only federal state in which he managed to take second place, and was therefore better than Rosencrantz and Wallentin. In the end, the beer festival boss in Vienna got 10.7%, Rosencrantz 10.44%. In the polls Rosencrantz was ahead with 11.76%, Wlazny with 10.85%.

In Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Upper Austria, Wlazny remained fourth with the assessment of Monday’s ballots.

Alexander Van der Bellen got 65.42% of the votes in Vienna including ballot papers (ballot result Sunday: 62.88%), former FPÖ / BZÖ politician Gerald Grosz got 3.84% (ballot result: 4.41), MFG CEO Michael Brunner at 1.68 percent (ballot box: 1.86) and Heinrich Staudinger at 1.0 percent, as in Sunday evening’s result.
