Al-Marsad newspaper: Infection control consultant Dr. Muhammad Halawani revealed the number of people living with AIDS in the Kingdom.
He said during an interview with Gulf Rotana’s “Yahla” program: “The latest statistics have revealed that the number of people living with AIDS in Saudi Arabia is 25,000, and the proportion of Saudis is 40 % of them”.
He added: ‘Awareness plays an important role in reducing the transmission rates of the infection, and therefore it is necessary to educate young people, to understand the disease, how it is transmitted and how to prevent it.’ Noting that the infection rate is now very low.
