Every week, our editors scan the various streaming platforms, looking for the best five new films and series for the weekend. This week we’re filling our Viewing guide starring Nicole Kidman as the spiritual leader in ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ (Prime Video), the up-and-coming comedy miniseries ‘The Chair’ (Netflix) starring Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh and the staggering docu ‘Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes’ (Netflix). 1. ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ – Spirituele trip (Prime Video)

The American-Australian Nicole Kidman has appeared in countless films and series in recent years, has been awarded various film prizes, including an Oscar and five Golden Globes, and can count herself as one of the greatest actresses of the 21st century. But her Hollywood debut did not just happen, it was preceded by an acting career as a novice in Australia. For her latest role in the miniseries ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ she went back to her cradle. In it, she is on set for the first time with American actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy. In the drama series, Kidman plays the role of Masha, the director of a spiritual resort where health and wellness are central. Nine stressed-out city dwellers take a ten-day retreat, hoping to revive their tired bodies and minds. Masha watches over them during that time, but the nine visitors have no idea what really awaits them.

2. ‘Search Party – Season 3’ – Sharp Satire (Streamz)

The third season of the satirical ‘Search Party’ builds on the events of the previous two seasons. Following the disappearance of an ex-acquaintance and the death of a private detective, this thrilling third installment revolves around the murder trial in which Dory (Alia Shawkat) and Drew (John Reynolds) found themselves. In the United States, the series that combines dark humor, satire and suspense has been very popular for some time. The millennial self-mockery and charisma of the protagonists will guide you through the third season.

3. ‘Sweet Girl’ – Wraakmissie (Netflix)

Jason Momoa takes on the role of Ray Cooper, a devoted family man and broken husband who vows to bring justice to those responsible for his wife’s death. She died of cancer while a drug company pulled a potentially life-saving drug off the shelves just before her death. Cooper sets out to find the truth, but when his revenge mission puts his daughter Rachel in danger, he does everything he can to protect her.

4. ‘The Chair’ – Failing Faculty (Netflix)

Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh, known for her roles in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Killing Eve’, plays the lead role in this promising comedy mini-series. ‘The Chair’ follows Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the first woman of color ever to head the English faculty at a major university. She faces all kinds of challenges and tries to meet the sky-high demands and expectations of the failing faculty.

5. ‘Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes’ – Cold-blooded killer (Netflix)

Dennis Nilsen was one of the most infamous serial killers in British history. In 1983, he confessed to killing 15 people. This staggering documentary shows how a boy from a quiet Scottish fishing village grew into a cold-blooded killer. Private recordings that have never been published before take us into the gruesome world of the serial killer who died in 2018.
