With the Palestinian people – MV Govindan writes | Articles | Deshabhimani

The CPI-M has called for a massive observance of Palestine Solidarity Day. The 9th and 10th CPI(M) State Committee has decided to organize programs like seminars and lectures at various centers in every district. The question of why the party is now preparing to organize this kind of program is being raised from many angles. This column tries to answer that. The main aim of the CPI-M is to raise public sentiment against the Israeli aggression in Palestine through Palestine solidarity programs. Since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 as a result of an imperialist conspiracy, the Palestinian people have been fighting for their own land and sovereignty. For that too they are continuing bravely. However, Israel’s hunt against the Palestinian people with the full support of American imperialism is now stronger. As countries like India and some Arab countries, which earlier gave full support to the Palestinian people, have turned to the side of Israel, the attack on the Palestinian people has increased tenfold. While the western media is filled with news about the hijab protests in Iran and the war in Ukraine, they are pretending not to see the atrocities being committed by the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Israeli settlement is encouraged in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Israeli army is giving it all support. Israeli forces are continuously raiding Palestinian homes in the West Bank. Raids and demolitions are done at night using bulldozers. Refugee camps are also attacked in this way. Israel is trying to make life impossible for Palestinians in the West Bank by forcefully evicting them and turning it into a Jewish majority area. Five hundred thousand Israelis have already settled in the West Bank. When Trump became the US president, he declared East Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the US embassy there. This move was to strengthen the Israeli claim. Similar attacks have been launched on Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, which Palestinians consider the capital of an independent Palestinian state if it becomes a reality. When Trump became the US president, he declared East Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the US embassy there. This move was to strengthen the Israeli claim. Hamas-ruled Gaza is an open prison for Palestinians. The restrictions imposed by Israeli forces make it impossible for Palestinians to enter and exit Gaza. In any way, the Israeli government and the army are behaving in a way that makes life impossible for the Palestinian people. The report published by the UN Commission of Inquiry in the third week of October deals with human rights violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Neither American President Joe Biden nor Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who are proud of democracy, are ready to speak against this violation of human rights. Modi’s attempt is to replicate Israel’s brutality against the Palestinians against the minorities in India. The most extreme right-wing government in Israel’s history is currently in power. Benjamin Netanyahu became the sixth prime minister with the support of parties such as the Jewish Power Party. It is the most prominent party in the anti-Palestinian hate campaign. The Ministry of Internal Security is managed by the leader of this party, Itamar Ben Gavir. He is in favor of making all the territory from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean a part of Israel. That is to deny the Palestinians their homeland. He is a leader who argues that those who advocate for Palestine are terrorists and therefore should not raise the Palestinian flag in any public place. He is also in favor of evicting all Palestinians from ‘Greater Israel’. What security will the Palestinians have in a country with such a minister? Under the leadership of the Netanyahu government, Jewish immigration is being promoted in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. There is no difference between these Jewish settlers and Israeli soldiers in relation to the Palestinian people. If a soldier takes off his uniform, he becomes an immigrant. There is no difference between these Jewish immigrants and Israeli soldiers in relation to the Palestinian people. If a soldier takes off his uniform, he becomes an immigrant. The lack of trust in the government of the Palestinian National Authority led by Muhammad Abbas, the betrayal of the Arab countries, the division in the Fatah movement leading the Palestinian Authority government, the disharmony between the Hamas movement ruling Gaza and the Palestinian Authority, and the open appeasement of Israel by the Western countries, including the United States, all lead to the destruction of the concept of Palestine itself. At such a juncture, the Palestinian people need the support of nations like India. India, which was at the forefront of all liberation struggles and was at the forefront of the Non-Aligned Movement, today is not only unwilling to play that role, but is standing with the oppressors of Israel. The reason for this is the similarity between the ideology of the RSS, which leads the Modi government, and the Zionist ideology of those at the helm of the Israeli government. That is why India is a part of the ‘Aiduyudu’ (India, Israel, UAE and USA) alliance. As a continuation of this, on December 31, India abstained from voting in favor of the resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations regarding the issue of Palestine. A resolution calling for the International Court of Justice to be prepared to rule on the legal consequences of Israel’s long-standing occupation of the Palestinian territories was passed with the support of 87 members. It is clear from India’s abstention from this vote that India is retreating from its pro-Palestinian policy which has been continued for seven and a half decades on the Palestine issue. Protests against this policy of Modi government should also be raised strongly. The most essential thing for the end of Israel’s atrocities is to grant independence to Palestine. The solution to this problem is the creation of an independent, secular Palestinian state. Left progressive communist movements have an obligation to support the struggle of a people who have lost their land as a result of an imperialist conspiracy to regain it. Taking up that duty, CPI-M has called for the widespread observance of Palestine Solidarity Day. All party elements and workers should come forward to show solidarity for the liberation struggles of the Palestinian people. Read on deshabhimani.com
