“With one hand or with one eye” – Belarus proposed banning “scary” toys in the EAEU

The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) support Minsk’s proposal to ban the sale of “scary” toys on the territory of the organization’s member states. The Minister for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Valentin Tataritsky spoke about this during a video conference with the capitals of the EAEU countries, Sputnik reported.

“These are the toys that we see on screens today. We often see it in stores. Like some creatures that are ambiguously interpreted by children, and there may be a psychological impact on the child when you see that [игрушка] with one hand or with a head with one eye and so on,” told Tataritsky.

According to him, such toys are difficult to perceive even for adults. Belarus put forward the idea of studying their influence on the children’s psyche. “And in the future, these initiatives will be reflected in changes to the technical regulations,” noted the EEC Minister.

However, he did not say which toys specifically he was talking about.

Earlier, Telegraf.news reported that the State Control Committee of Belarus had withdrawn Huggy Waggy toys from sale. The department explained this decision in the fall of 2022 by requests from Belarusians who allegedly asked to study the impact of these toys on the children’s psyche.
