When it comes to viewing figures, you cannot ignore Erik Van Looy in Belgium. “The Alzheimer case” was a huge hit in 2003 with 750,000 visitors, but with “Loft” he only really made history five years later. No less than 1.2 million people went to see the film in the cinema, still an all-time record. Van Looy thought the time was right to go to Hollywood and directed the American version himself, but “The Loft” hardly attracted viewers and became a huge flop. Van Looy back to square one.
