On May 18, the Senate definitively approved the conversion of the so-called Reopening Decree into law. This decree concerns the overcoming of some emergency measures put in place by the government to combat the pandemic. The law deals with masks in the workplace, the Green Pass, but also and above all with the extension of smart working. In this law there are important news for workers who have exploited agile work up to now.
Two years of the pandemic have fundamentally changed the way millions of workers work. For months, restrictions imposed on those who could work from home. Many have welcomed the novelty of the so-called agile work, smart working, others have opposed it. With the gradual return to normal, many companies have only partially retained the possibility of agile work, others have canceled it.
With children under this age, you can still work from home in smart working until July 31st
The Reopening decree converted into law, has extended simplified smart working for two specific categories of workers. The Government confirms the extension for those who have children under 14 and for fragile workers.
The employee who has a child under the age of 14 can continue to operate in agile work mode until July 31, 2022. The employee can take advantage of this benefit only if he is the only parent in the family to benefit from this right.
The law has extended smart working for workers with children under 14 but also for fragile workers. But the extension for these workers expires on 30 June. By fragile worker we mean the person most at risk of contagion from Covid by age or health condition.
Opportunities to work from abroad
The spread of smart working has created a new way of working in Italy that was unknown to many until two years ago. In these months of pandemic it has not been uncommon for many taking advantage of smart working to move to other places to work. The possibility of working from home also opens up the possibility of operating from countries other than that of residence.
For example, for some time now many Italians have been going to some Europeans, perhaps little known but with a quality of life similar to the great European capitals. In places like these, the cost of living is much lower than the Italian average. For example, it is possible to rent an attic in the suburbs for only 300 euros per month.
Those with a smart working job could also decide to operate from this country for a few months. And then maybe decide to move permanently.
