Amsterdammers Elleke and Laura drove to Duisburg by car on Saturday to get their booster. The journey took two hours, but with success. Against it Duitse Tagesschau the happy friends tell them that they received their booster shot very quickly. They only had to wait in line.
81 hours pricking
The marathon in the German city of Duisburg was organized by the doctor Ahmad-Mujtaba Mostakiem. With a team of 15, he works around the clock these days from a hotel, which is directly opposite the official vaccination location. However, it is closed, the doctor and his team puncture non-stop.
In total, 81 hours of vaccination against corona are carried out. The promotion started on Friday and ends Monday at 6 p.m.

Popular with the Dutch
The injection marathon is also popular with the Dutch. For example, people from all over the country come to the German city to save their skiing holiday, for example. Elleke and Laura are 27 years old and will only receive their booster shot in the Netherlands next year. In two weeks they want to go to Austria on a skiing holiday, but without a booster you have to be quarantined there. Since Friday you have to quarantine for ten days on arrival in Austria, unless you have already had your booster shot.
“We are very happy that the vaccination was successful here in Duisburg”, says a happy Laura.

prick doubters
The German doctor especially hopes that prick doubters will be persuaded during Christmas dinners to still be vaccinated. “And if that’s at 2 a.m., we’ll give them the chance!” says Mostakiem. Although most people come to the injection marathon to get a booster.
Prashanth Saravanapan is a radiologist by day, but is now part of the injection team that works in three shifts. “We can say that more than a hundred people came by during the night. We think that’s great,” he tells Tagesschau. According to him, there was a few among them who had themselves pricked for the first time.
