Jakarta – For those of you who have ever used a computer or laptop that uses Windows XP, you will definitely be very familiar with its iconic wallpaper. The wallpaper is a picture of a view of hills and sky.
But now this wallpaper can be used for walking. Because this wallpaper is embedded in the sweater.
Named Windows Ugly Sweaters, the company created by Bill Gates, Microsoft, wants to invite its loyal users to reminisce about the early 2000s through these sweaters.
For those who forget, Bliss wallpapers are considered by many to be the most viewed photos in the world. It features green hills under a cloudy blue sky and was the default wallpaper on millions of Windows machines from 2001 to 2008.
Quoted from detikInetthe image was immortalized by photographer Charles O’Rear in 1996, before Microsoft bought the copyright in 2000. Amazingly, O’ Rear claims the photo was not digitally altered.
The hill is located along a busy highway in Sonoma, California. Its current condition is a vineyard location and no longer resembles the iconic photo.
Microsoft says it is supporting nature conservation organizations by selling ‘ugly’ sweaters this year. All proceeds from sales are donated to The Nature Conservancy organization which is dedicated to “conserving the land and water on which all life lives.”
As always, this year’s sweater is available in limited quantities directly on the Xbox Gear Shop. The company also held a livestream event where Microsoft revealed more about the sweater design, along with entertainment in the form of Windows trivia.
The price of this Windows XP wallpaper sweater is selling for USD 69.99 (around Rp. 1.1 million) and orders are expected to be shipped between December 1 and December 5, leaving plenty of time for New Year’s holiday parties.
