The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issued for April 17, Wednesday, a warning of the second and first degree – orange and yellow code, for intense rainfall and thunderstorms in 16 regions of the country.

The quantities will be between 15-25 liters per square meter, in places in Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad regions – up to 30-40 liters per square meter.

A first degree warning – code yellow, for strong winds, with gusts of up to 24 meters per second, has been declared for 17 regions of the country, according to the map with the warning codes for the dangerous meteorological phenomena published on the NIMH website.

In South-Eastern Bulgaria, it will remain almost without precipitation, but it will rain there on the night of Thursday.

In the northwestern half of the country, the wind will be moderate to west-northwest, while in the southeast it will remain from the south-southwest and will be temporarily strong. The maximum temperatures will be from about 12° in the extreme northwestern regions, to 27° in places in Eastern Bulgaria, in Sofia – about 20°.

Above the Black Sea

cloudiness will be variable, often significant, but by the evening it will remain almost without precipitation. A moderate and temporarily strong wind will blow from the south-southwest. It will stay warm with highs between 24° and 27°. The temperature of the sea water is 15°-16°. The excitement of the sea will be 3-4 points.

Over the mountains

it will be mostly cloudy and mainly in the afternoon there will be showers and thunderstorms. A moderate to strong south-westerly wind will blow, which will shift from the north-west in the evening and cold air will begin to invade with it, then the precipitation will increase. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters will be around 17°, at 2000 meters – around 7°.

In the NIMH’s weekly forecast for the weather in our country – from April 18 to 23, it is reported that in the coming days the cloudiness will be more often significant. Rainfall will continue, but will be weaker and in fewer places, mainly in southern and eastern Bulgaria.

Thursday, April 18, will be windy, with a moderate, temporarily strong northwesterly wind in the Danube Plain, which will weaken on Friday and turn northeasterly later in the day.

Temperatures will drop, on Friday, April 19, the minimum temperatures will be between 5 and 10 degrees and the maximum between 12 and 17 degrees.

On the night of Saturday from the southwest, precipitation will intensify, and on Saturday, April 20, it will cover the entire country. They are likely to be intense and significant in many areas.

In the mountains, above 1100-1200 meters, it will snow. The north-easterly wind will temporarily increase, then it will shift from the north-west. Temperatures will be without significant diurnal variation, in most of the country they will be between 7 and 12 degrees, in the southeastern regions – up to 16-17 degrees.

There will be variable, often significant cloud cover on Sunday, April 21 and into the early days of next week. Rainfall will weaken and in most parts of the country will temporarily stop, and on Tuesday it will be again in more places.

The wind will be from the west-northwest, will be moderate on Sunday, will weaken on Monday, April 22, and will turn from the northeast on Tuesday, April 23. The morning temperatures will drop further and on Tuesday the minimum temperatures will be between 1 and 6 degrees, and the maximum temperatures in most of the country will be between 12 and 17 degrees.
