Win 3-1, the Blues to the top of the standings

Chelsea beat 10 players Southampton with a score of 3-1 at home in the Premier League continued. This victory brought the Blues to the top of the standings.

Chelsea host Southampton at Stamford Bridge in the seventh week of the Premier League match, Saturday (2/10/2021) night WIB. The Blues appeared dominant in this match by recording greater possession of the ball than Southampton who only.

Chelsea started the game well after being able to take the lead in the 9th minute through Trevoh Chalobah. In the first half, Thomas Tuchel’s men after twice found the net against Southampton through Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. However, these two goals were later disallowed.

In the second half, Chelsea were caught off guard until Southampton were awarded a penalty because Valentino Livramento was fouled by Ben Chilwell. This penalty prize was completed by James Ward-Prowse into a goal in the 61st minute.

Ward-Prowse then became a prisoner in the 77th minute due to getting a red card. Superior in number of players, Chelsea can score two goals through Timo Werner in the 84th minute and Chilwell in the 89th minute.

A 3-1 win over Southampton took Chelsea to the top of the standings with 16 points. They are two points ahead of Liverpool in second place. Meanwhile, The Saints are in 17th position with just four points.

The course of the match

The hosts opened up opportunities when the game had only been running for five minutes. Cesar Azpilicueta’s breakthrough bait from the right side towards Timo Werner who stabbed into the penalty box. However, Werner’s kick can still be pushed over by Alex McCarthy.

Chelsea were able to break the deadlock four minutes later. Starting from a corner kick from Ben Chilwell, the ball was headed by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Goal!! The ball went to Trevoh Chalobah who was unmarked at the far post. Chalobah as he threw himself headed the ball to break into the Southampton goal. Chelsea lead 1-0.

Southampton are left behind trying to provide resistance to Chelsea. The duel then went even fiercer.

Adam Armstrong tried to threaten through a kick from outside the penalty box in the 21st minute. Eduoard Mendy’s efforts can still be secured.

In the 32nd minute, it was Chelsea’s turn to try Loftus-Cheek’s long-range shot. However, Loftus-Cheek’s kick was also wide.

McCarthy made a brilliant save that kept Southampton from conceding in the 25th minute. He can block Chilwell’s overlapping kick into the penalty box with his feet.

Chelsea could actually break into Southampton’s goal for the second time in the 35th minute. Romelu Lukaku well completed Antonio Ruediger’s pass which stabbed into the front of the penalty box. However, this goal was disallowed because of Lukaku offside.

Chelsea’s goal was again disallowed in the 40th minute. Thomas Tuchel’s men rattled the Southampton goal after Werner finely headed in Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross. This goal was disallowed because previously Azpilicueta had a foul on Kyle Walker-Peters.

Score 1-0 for Chelsea lasted until halftime.

After the break, Chelsea were still more dominant in launching attacks. However, Chilwell’s mistake had to be paid dearly in the 61st minute.

Chilwell fouled Valentino Livramento who stabbed into the penalty box. The referee points to the white dot.

Goal!! James Ward-Prowse did a great job as an executor. His shot to the right of the Chelsea goal outwit Mendy. The position became a 1-1 draw.

Chelsea increased the pressure to get back ahead. They had a chance to realize this in the 72nd minute.

Bait back-heel Lukaku, welcomed by Werner to break into the penalty box. However, McCarthy again showed his toughness by brushing off Werner’s kick.

In the 77th minute, referee Martin Atkinson gave a straight red card to Ward-Prowse after reviewing VAR. Ward-Prowse is considered a dangerous tackle on Jorginho.

Superior in the number of players, Chelsea locked the defense. The second goal they were waiting for finally arrived in the 84th minute.

Goal!! Ross Barkley’s pass from midfield to Azpilicueta into the penalty box from the right side. He thrust the ball that Werner struck in front of goal into a goal.

Five minutes later Chelsea could add a goal. Goals were born out of chaos in front of the Southampton goal after Lukaku and Azpilicueta’s strikes hit the post.

Goal!! Chilwell can snatch the ball vomit with a strong volley. McCarthy’s shot was saved by McCarthy, but the ball crossed the line.

Chelsea ended the match with a 3-1 win.
