Win 2-0, Spurs top the standings

Tottenham Hotspur to be the best in North London at the moment. Meeting their rivals, Arsenal, in the 11th week Premier League, the squad made Jose Mourinho managed to win 2-0.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday (6/12/2020), the hosts scored three points thanks to goals from Son Heung-min (13 ‘) and Harry Kane (45+1′).

These results led Tottenham to the top of the standings with 24 points. As for Arsenal, this defeat made them 15th with 13 points.

The course of the match

The hosts got the first chance through Eric Dier’s free kick in the 3rd minute, but had not met the target. Three minutes later, it was Arsenal’s turn to attack by Bukayo Saka, but his shot from outside the penalty area also failed to target the net.

Arsenal’s pressure continued in the 11th minute. Thomas Partey shot from distance, but also to no avail.

GOAL! Tottenham lead 1-0 in the 13th minute. Harry Kane initiated a counterattack by releasing long-range feedback to Son Heung-min. The South Korean attacker dribbled the ball briefly, then fired a curling shot that lodged in the right corner of the Arsenal goal guarded by Bernd Leno.

Leading one goal, Tottenham continued to attack. Pierre-Emile Hoejbjerg almost doubled the lead in the 26th minute, if only his shot didn’t go right into Leno’s arms.

Alexandre Lacazette had a chance to equalize in the 44th minute, but his free kick was still sideways on the right side of the Tottenham goal.

GOAL! Tottenham added a goal in the first half injury time. Giovani Lo Celso counterattacked, then crossed the ball to Son, who then passed it to Kane in the box. With one hard shot, he successfully broke into Arsenal’s goal.

The first half closed with Tottenham 2-0 advantage.

In the second half, Arsenal tried to find a quick goal. Lacazette had another chance in the 47th minute, but his header was secured by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Two minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s header was still soaring over Tottenham’s goal.

Willian also threatened Tottenham’s goal in the 62nd minute. Even so, kicking his left foot also failed to produce a goal. Meanwhile, in the 68th minute, Lacazette’s header was again countered by Lloris.

Not much attacking in the second half, Tottenham’s new opportunity was created in the 81st minute. With a free kick, Son finds Kane but his header goes wide down the left of the net.

In the 84th minute, Arsenal attacked again. Aubameyang successfully received Lacazette’s pass, but the Gabon striker’s shot was blocked by Toby Alderweireld, who was already waiting for him.

Until the match was over, the score 2-0 for Tottenham remained unchanged.
