Wilson recently officially launched the brand’s first 3D printed “airless” basketball. This revolutionary design was first unveiled during the NBA All-Star Game last week. It was this ball that KJ Martin held in the slam dunk contest.
This Wilson Airless Prototype is designed by the team behind the official NBA ball. It relies on unique structures and research-grade materials to reproduce the elasticity of traditional basketballs. The surface is covered with 6-angle perforations, allowing air to freely shuttle inside and outside the ball, and Retains the traditional 8-sided seam construction.
This ball has also been proven to be usable, regardless of weight, size, elasticity and other specifications are the same as conventional balls, but it is still in the prototype stage. The official statement mentioned that before this prototype ball is really promoted globally, there is still a long way to go. There is a lot of preparatory work to be done.
