Willem Engel puts address Kaag online, D66 leader files a report

Dance teacher and anti-corona measures activist Willem Engel this afternoon distributed a tweet in which the address of D66 leader Sigrid Kaag could be seen. He shared a request for information from the land registry, including Kaag’s postal code and house number.

According to Engel, Kaag has ties with the Open Society Foundation, a foundation of the Hungarian-American businessman George Soros that is committed to, among other things, human rights and democratic governance. “Given the terrorist financing and ties to the Open Society Foundation, which is also seen as a terrorist organization in some countries, we want to know who owns this property,” Engel wrote in his tweet. He apologized in advance that it is probably private information.

Kaag will report to Engel, a spokesperson for her party said. The Virus Truth foreman says in a response that he does not find the matter worth reporting. “It wasn’t about her address, but about the financial data she may be hiding,” he says. It is not clear why he shared the address.

Several people reacted angrily to Engel’s action, who has about 14,000 followers on Twitter. They reported him to the social media platform. Engel responded by saying that the tweet was not a call for violence or intimidation.

The post has since been removed from Twitter. Engel’s account, who tells the NOS that he would have liked to post the tweet again, but with a bar over the address, has been restricted for 12 hours.

Earlier this week, a man walked around Kaag’s door with a burning torch. That incident was streamed live on social media. The man has been arrested and the D66 leader has also filed a report against him.
