According to unofficial information, we will see a six-cylinder in combination with an electric motor, which also uses the hybrid Ford Explorer available in Europe.

The new Ford Bronco was introduced only with conventional internal combustion engines, but former brand director Jim Hackett confirmed last year that we will also see an electrified version. A few weeks ago, its development was reminded by a video in which a device shield with information about the electric propulsion system appeared for a while.
At the time, there was much speculation on the Internet about the shape of the new Bronc’s hybrid propulsion system, but more light has now come to TFL Cars, which has released information from one of the insiders working on the project. Although the information is not official, it is still the best we have.

According to a TFL Car source, the Bronco hybrid should be equipped with a ten-speed modular hybrid transmission, which is to be combined with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost six-cylinder. Ford already uses this engine in several models (Explorer, Lincoln Aviator or Continental), where it is tuned to power in the range of about 261 kW to 368 kW (355 hp to 500 hp). The strongest version is equipped with a plug-in hybrid Lincoln Aviator.

But whatever the tuning of the 3.0-liter six-cylinder itself, according to the behind-the-scenes information, it should be connected to an electric motor with an output of approx. 35 kW (approx. 48 hp). The same electric motor is already used by the Ford Explorer Hybrid (also offered in Europe) and the Ford F-150 Hybrid should be expected in the future.

If Ford decides to tune the hybrid Bronco to the power of the hybrid Explorer (combined power 336 kW / 457 hp, 825 Nm), there is little chance that we could see it in European markets. Emise CO2 Hybrid Explorer is at the level of 71 g / km (according to WLTP), thanks to which it meets the strict emission standards of Euro 6.2.
In addition, the Bronco hybrid could boldly compete with other hybrid competitors in more demanding terrain in European markets. We should soon see the introduction of the electrified Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV, powered by an electrified 3.6-liter six-cylinder Pentastar, and electrification will not be avoided even by the new Land Rover Defender.

Unlike the pair of competitors mentioned above, however, we will have to wait a little longer for the electrified Bronco. According to information from TFL Car, we will not see the introduction of the new Bronca Hybrid until next year.
