Tour de France 2022 offers Dutch people opportunities

PARIS – Will Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Dumoulin be the great tastemakers of the Tour de France next year? That was one of the questions that sang around in the Palais des Congrès in Paris after the unveiling of the route in 2022. Joop Zoetemelk, the last Dutch Tour winner (1980), sees a prominent role for both of them. “Van der Poel always races offensively and, just like this year, he will participate again for stage victories, and in the beginning for the yellow. And if Dumoulin is motivated, I definitely see opportunities for him in the standings.”
