sport">Gakpo is often asked whether he will stay or leave, he tells opposite ESPN† “I can handle it well. It would be better if there was clarity for both parties soon. My biggest considerations are a possible other club, the upcoming World Cup and where I can best develop myself. I think the latter is the most important.”

sport">The left striker continues: „Of course I am convinced of my own qualities, but I must be able to play. PSV’s plan with me is clear in that regard.”

Tips Van Gaal

sport">National coach Louis van Gaal also gave him tips. “He said that I had to follow my gut feeling and that staying with PSV would certainly be an option for me. And that I can always call him.”

sport">Are there specific clubs playing? “There is enough going on. Leeds United did get in touch with my agent, but nothing further was done or something. PSV fans want me to stay and I get that. But if I can make a nice step, I think they will understand. At PSV, a lot is right for me, so it wouldn’t be a punishment or disaster to stay here. In the end I will have to make the decision.”
