Things get really frosty for Chopper and the others battling it out on the Skull Dome Live Floor.
Ever since Lead Performer/All-Star Queen the Plague unleashed her Ice Oni virus in Episode 1005, we’ve been waiting to see how Chopper will overcome it.
If anything can stop a virus, it’s the Straw Hat doctor’s medical expertise. In episode 1022, Chopper finishes creating an antidote – literally in the middle of battle – but must test it first before administering it to infected people.
Hyogoro has fully transformed into an Oni and is attacking the Yakuza, while more and more soldiers are turning into Ice Zombies. Will Chopper’s medicine be ready in time to save them all?

Chopper successfully manufactures, tests and mass-produces Queen’s Ice Oni virus cure in no time and saves everyone, according to Chapter 1007. Infected Pleasures and Waiters, Samurai and Hyogoro all returned to their forms of origin..
In episode 1023, we will see how Chopper will defeat Queen’s ice plague and transfer his self-created counter-virus to help all infected people recover.
How does Chopper create the antidote?
Chopper uses Queen’s liquid antibodies to create his own virus which will act as an antidote to the Ice Oni. He calls this artificial counter-virus the Chopperphage.which can spread through the air and be stored in weapons.

Initially, Chopper had hoped to use the vial of antibodies Zoro got from Apoo to save the infected. But since there were too many people and too few antibodies, he quickly decided to use what he had to create something new.
Only Chopper could have thought of creating a real virus while being infected and actively attacking himself.
It only takes him an hour to make the benign Chopperphage then tests it on himself before attempting to heal others.
How does Chopper heal people infected with Ice Oni?
Chopper multiplies the liquid antibodies to make the gaseous counter-virus Chopperphage which he loads into a cannon. Miyagi and Tristan fire the cannon and the antidote is scattered all over the room, collectively healing allies, enemies, and himself.

Since the Chopperphage takes the form of a mist, it doesn’t need physical contact like the Ice Oni virus to spread. The Chopperphage Nebulizer is triggered and the gas cloud takes the shape of Chopper’s face, before spreading and being inhaled by both infected and uninfected.
The the counter virus has no effect on uninfected people people like Zoro, but he completely heals infected people like Hyogoro who was on the verge of death.
It warms the frozen areas of the body and kills the crippling virus, eliminating it completely in seconds.
The counter virus not only thaws frozen bodies, but it also reverses the effect of the virus on the brains of infected people. After the cannon shot, everyone who had been infected also comes to their senses; not only that, some of them even gain more meaning than before.
The Beasts Pirates subordinates who had been betrayed by their Commander Queen, switch alliances and become Team Chopper.
When Queen is injured from being foiled by a ship’s doctor, the Pleasures form a human shield to protect Chopper, saying they would rather die for their savior than the person who wanted them zombified.
What would happen if Chopper didn’t do the treatment in time?
If Chopper hadn’t found a solution in time, everyone fighting on Skull Dome’s Live Floor – and presumably beyond – would have been turned into Ice Onis.

This includes enemies i.e. Beasts Pirates and Apoo subordinates, Yakuza bosses and samurai, Minks, other allies like X Drake and Straw Hat members like Robin, Zoro and Chopper.
Of course, Marco arrived in time to use his blue flames to heat up the majority virus, but even then the effects of the virus could only be completely stopped by Chopper’s medicine.
Oda really used the Ice Oni situation to give Chopper his moment of glory – our favorite raccoon – sorry, the reindeer – not only recognizes the structure and behavior of Queen’s virulent virus, but also finds a way to produce it by mass, saving hundreds of people.
The Chopperphage might not be the panacea that Chopper dreamed of making, but it’s exactly what the Alliance needed at the time. Without it, Queen and her ice plague would have taken over the dome.
It’s Chopper’s biggest flex yet – aside from Monster Point, which he’ll be unleashing in the next episode.
