The World Health Organization (WHO) said today that vaccines continue to offer high protection against severe forms and the risk of death from covid-19, and argued that updates to the composition of these vaccines must take into account the virus evolution.
Likewise, the improvements made in the vaccine should consider the variants with the greatest circulation with the aim of reducing the symptoms of the infectious disease, according to the conclusions of the WHO advisory group on vaccines, which met to review the progress relating to these products.
The group of experts has recommended that the most recent variants and their subvariants be used in future vaccine formulations against covid-19.
In the same way, the WHO recommended that authorized vaccines be offered to the public, all with the aim of inducing an increase in global immunity to face emerging variants of the virus.
