Australia’s national carrier Qantas announced at the end of last week that the last Boeing 747 aircraft in its fleet had been completed, its final flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. Qantas has flown this model for 40 years. Earlier in July, British Airways announced the decommissioning of the Boeing 747, it was the world’s largest operator of this model (31 airliners). British Airways previously planned to completely phase out Queen of the Skies only in 2023–2024, but accelerated the withdrawal due to reduced demand caused by the COVID-2019 pandemic.

The largest European airline, German Lufthansa, has become the leader in the number of passenger Boeing 747s in its fleet: it has 28 such airliners. In second place is the national carrier of South Korea Korean Air with 23 vessels, in third – Rossiya Airlines (Aeroflot’s subsidiary) with nine.
