Why Heart Ring or Stent Installation May Cause Recurring Blockages: Expert Explanation

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Installation of a heart ring or stent performed to open or widen blocked coronary arteries. The development of a ring or stent at the blockage site allows the heart blood vessels to open again.

Then, after installing a heart ring, can a blockage still occur again, causing pain?

According to consultant heart and blood vessel specialist Adrianus Kosasih from Heartology Hospital Jakarta, this could happen. There are several factors that can cause blockages in the heart arteries to the point that the pain becomes unbearable.

“It could be due to poor blood vessel conditions or uncontrolled risk factors,” said Adrianus.

It could also be that the ring installation is not optimal, causing excruciating discomfort.

“Re-blockage of the heart ring can be caused by improper ring installation procedures, for example because the ring is developed less than optimally,” continued Adrianus in a written statement received Liputan6.com.

Effects if a blockage occurs again in the heart blood vessels

After undergoing a heart ring installation, a blockage occurred again, this resulted in the muscles lacking oxygen. Then, recurring symptoms arise in the form of pain such as feeling like the chest is being pressed, hot or tight.

According to Adrianus, the pain felt can last approximately 10 minutes.

Even worse, because the heart nerves are also connected to several other nerves, referred pain can often occur in the shoulders, back, jaw, and hands.
