why doesn’t the brand amplify it?

Tesla is certainly among the best electric car makers out there in various respects, but there is no doubt that some critical opinions at the expense of Elon Musk’s cars can be founded. One of these can be described in a few words:“electric cars don’t have a soul.”

This expression is often used to indicate the absence of a characteristic sound coming from the engine of the BEVs (we do not completely agree), while the cars with internal combustion thermal engine, especially if sports, enjoy a careful sound design useful to characterize them in an unequivocal way. In practice, some motorists report that they cannot get emotions from driving a fully electric car.

This is partly true, since many producers are already getting on track also from this point of view. BMW is collaborating with Hans Zimmer, for example in person to develop a sound as clean and emotional as possible. At the same time Audi has set up a team of engineers with the sole purpose of amplifying and modifying the “noise” coming from the electric motors: probably the final result will debut on the Audi e-tron GT. It is also difficult not to mention Mercedes-Benz, since the Stuttgart car manufacturer even wants to leave the motorist the possibility of select the sound you like best.

Moreover, Porsche and Ford, respectively, for the Taycan and the Mustang Mach-E have set up similar operations, but in the current state of things Tesla does not seem to be particularly interested in this type of solutions. Anyone who has boarded a California EV has noticed almost absolute silence which dominates the passenger compartment, even when you shoot from 0 to 100 km / h with the accelerator at maximum extension: our hearing system perceives only a slight hiss.

In fact, at the moment it is a missed opportunity for Tesla, even if many said they were happy with the effect of the cars of the brand when launched to the maximum in “Ludicrous Mode”. Essentially it’s a matter of taste, and probably allowing freedom of choice (as Mercedes does) is perhaps best.
