Tomorrow, Monday, at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, the executive office of the Asian Football Confederation will choose the host country for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals.

Three nations are vying to host: Qatar, South Korea and Indonesia, after Australia withdrew from the race in early September.

Last May, China apologized for hosting the tournament due to its policy of limiting the spread of the Corona virus, as the tournament was to take place in 10 Chinese cities in the period from June 16 to July 16, 2023, with the participation of 24 teams.

Qatar will compete for hosting, especially in light of the great readiness of the facilities, stadiums and infrastructure that will host the 2022 World Cup finals from November 20 to December 18.

Qatar previously hosted the Asian Cup in 1988, when Saudi Arabia won the title by defeating South Korea on penalties, and in 2011 when Japan won by defeating Australia after the extension, while Qatar won the continental championship title in its previous edition in the UAE in early 2019.

The Korean Federation had requested the support of member states and the Asian Confederation to host the tournament for the first time in 63 years, as Korea had hosted the second edition in 1960 and had won the second title in its history after the first in 1956. .

As for Indonesia, it co-hosted the 2007 edition between 4 countries, along with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and never won the title.
