Who will not receive the vaccine against COVID-19 according to López-Gatell?

This Sunday afternoon, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, explained that the vaccine against COVID-19 it will not be for everyone in terms of a universal access, but will be given as a priority to certain people.

And it is that once the vaccine is ready, not all people will be able to receive its application, since according to Hugo López-Gatell, priority will be given to sectors of high exposure to the virus as well as vulnerable people by age or chronic illness.

During the evening Health conference, López-Gatell also stated that the vaccination scheme will contemplate this prioritization of the sectors after the results of the Phase III of its development.

“The potential universal access to which all people must necessarily be vaccinated should not be understood. Health personnel will most likely be vaccinated, personnel at high risk of exposure; people are going to be vaccinated over 60 years most likely, they are people at high risk of complications; the same as people with chronic diseases, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, kidney failure ”, he argued.

In the message, he stressed that the vaccination scheme will be defined when the type of protection offered by the vaccine is known, among 4 main types: against infection, against disease, against serious illness or death, and against transmission.

If any information appears on the amount of vaccines that Mexico is going to acquire, it will not yet have scientific and technical support. The Ministry of Health is responsible for defining this scheme
