Who will be Werder’s next cup opponent?

This evening from 6:30 p.m. the 2nd round of the DFB Cup will be drawn in the ARD Sportschau. Very difficult chunks could still be waiting for Werder Bremen.

On December 22nd and 23rd, the second round of the DFB Cup will be played between the 32 remaining teams.

With the 2-0 win over Carl Zeiss Jena in September, Werder Bremen had reached the second round of the DFB Cup – this will now be drawn this evening as part of the ARD Sportschau and is to be played on December 22nd and 23rd.

32 teams are still represented in the competition, there will be two lottery pots. One includes all teams from the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga. The clubs from the 3rd division and the regional division are in the other. First, the five remaining teams from the lower-class leagues will be drawn to the first and second division. The remaining clubs are then drawn against each other. So the chance is not exactly slim for Werder to catch a Bundesliga or second division team as the next opponent.

The following teams are still in play:

Bundesliga: 1. FSV Mainz 05, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Augsburg, VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, 1. FC Cologne, Union Berlin, Werder Bremen, TSG Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, SC Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, FC Schalke 04

2. League: Eintracht Braunschweig, VfL Osnabrück, VfL Bochum, SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Holstein Kiel, SV Sandhausen, Jahn Regensburg, SC Paderborn 07, SV Darmstadt 98, Hannover 96

3. League: SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Dynamo Dresden

Regionalliga: SSV Ulm, SV Elversberg, Rot-Weiss Essen
