(VOVWORLD) – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced a new strategy for the prevention of covid-19, which seeks to help countries in the transition from an emergency mechanism to a strategy for the prevention and control of this pandemic through long term.

In particular, the response to covid-19 (2023-2025 period) will maintain the two objectives of the previous plan, which are to reduce the spread of the disease and provide treatment to reduce mortality rates.
The novelty of the new plan lies in a third objective of “supporting countries in their transition from an emergency response to a more sustainable management, control and prevention of covid-19 in the long term”.
Such information was announced ahead of a meeting of the WHO’s Covid-19 Emergency Committee to decide whether to maintain the maximum alert level for the pandemic.
The WHO stated that SARS-CoV-2 still exists, but the world is gradually emerging from the emergency phase. According to the organization, all countries must learn to respond to this pandemic and other diseases.
