WHO: Then omikron is life-threatening

Unvaccinated, elderly and people with underlying diseases risk life-threatening conditions when infected with omicron, according to the WHO.

The World Health Organization WHO is now issuing the message that omicrone can trigger life-threatening conditions for people who are unvaccinated, elderly and have underlying diseases, reports CNBC and quotes among others Dr Mike Ryan, who is the head of the WHO’s health risk program.

He claims that omicrone poses a “massive threat” to the lives of unvaccinated people.

Maria Van Kerkhove, another covid-19 expert at the WHO, says according to CNBC that the elderly and people with underlying diseases are at increased risk of dying compared to other groups.

There is probably no country in the world that has been spared from the virus variant, she assesses.

“It’s not just a mild illness,” Maria Van Kerkhove emphasizes, pointing out that the whole picture of the consequences for those infected with omikron is still unknown.

Her advice is to get vaccinated, wear a mask, avoid crowds and as far as possible work from home.

Dr. Mike Ryan explains from his horizon that hundreds of people around the world are hospitalized.

WHO: Think again – get vaccinated!

These are severe cases of omicron and although most people seem to have mild symptoms, the virus variant can develop serious conditions.

According to the WHO doctor, those who are particularly unvaccinated are at risk of becoming seriously ill with omicron infection.

The infection is “a massive threat to their lives and health,” according to Dr. Mike Ryan, who urges the unvaccinated to rethink and take the injection.

According to WHO experts, the omicron variant now dominates the world and has bypassed delta.
