The caretaker of the Health Minister Firas Abyad explained that “the cholera epidemic exists and the goal is how to besiege it and get rid of it, and the danger is when the number of patients exceeds the number of beds”.
In an interview with the Al-Jadeed channel, he said: “We are now in a race to limit the spread of the epidemic.”
He said that “the reports we publish on the cholera epidemic are transparent, the epidemiological surveillance department is present in all regions and we collaborate with other ministries”.
He stressed that “in Ain al-Asafah in Akkar and in Benin in particular, where there is a large percentage of cholera cases, and we are trying to limit the epidemic there, but in the rest of the regions of Lebanon the cases are sporadic “.
