The federal government is asking hospitals to switch to the maximum capacity of 2,000 beds on intensive care for corona patients on Monday, instead of the planned 1,200. In addition, they are also rolling out a plan B in which about 300 extra beds must be created in a kind of intermediate station. “Whether that is realistic? It will have to. Otherwise we simply will not make it ”, says Marc Noppen, CEO of UZ Brussel. But what exactly does such an intermediate station entail? And are there any options if that is not enough?
