Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko (16–2, 11 KOs), the former lightweight world champion, will step into the ring on the night of October 30 in New York.
The Ukrainian’s opponent in a 12-round fight is a 26-year-old Jemaine Ortiz from the USA (16-0-1, 8 KOs), which previously had no first level opponents.

Ortiz owns the IBF USBA and NABF regional belts. There have only been two 10-round fights in his career (he won both on points in 2022) and the rest consisted of fewer three-minute fights.
34-year-old Lomachenko defeated Japan’s Masayoshi Nakatani by TKO in June 2021, ending a defeat to Teofimo Lopez, and then defeated Richard Commey of Ghana on points in December 2021. Prior to the fight with Ortiz, Vasily did not fight in 2022.
