Every December 31, millions of visitors converge on New York to admire the descent of the Times Square Ball, this gigantic ball that marks the arrival of the new year. It’s also an opportunity to admire the fireworks in Prospect Park, not to mention the NYC Winter Lantern Festival in Staten Island and the LuminoCity Festival in Manhattan. MANHATTAN

- LeFrak Center at Lakeside of Prospect Park, two ice rinks (one outdoor and one indoor). Cost: $ 7.25 and $ 10; skate rental $ 7. Until March 31.
QUEENS
- City Ice Pavilion. Ice rink on a covered roof. Check before you go, as hours are limited due to hockey classes. Cost: $ 7 to $ 10; skate rental $ 6. All year.
- World Ice Arena. In the northeast corner of Corona Park in Flushing Meadows. Cost: $ 7 to $ 10; skate rental $ 6. All year.
STATEN ISLAND
